Dinosaur Tracks
HUMAN-CENTERED DESIGN PROJECT
Dinosaur Tracks is a seek-and-find educational game that teaches young children about the prehistoric past.
The goal was to create an educational experience for children using the concepts of human-centered design and design thinking. The final product is based on a scavenger hunt where children search for clues within their home environment. Allowing children to be an active participant in their learning process developed deeper connections regarding the subject matter, encouraging them to become more curious and driven to learn.
Through observational interviews with pre-school-aged children, I was able to iterate and revise the game experience. The final game features three separate scavenger hunts, where parents hide clues and pieces of the puzzles for the child to discover as they make connections.
The final packaged includes a direction sheet and three fact sheets, corresponding with each specific dinosaur. I also 3D-printed prototype game pieces. As a result, I was able to see the game move from research to concept to a physical, working final product.
